MA with a major in Christian Studies

The Master of Arts with a major in Christian Studies is one of Denver Seminary's most flexible MA Academic degrees. This degree offers students a range of choices in Old and New Testament studies, church history, systematic theology and philosophy of religion as well as courses in leadership and evangelism. Therefore, you can design portions of this program to fit your specific ministry needs. And because a majority of students who pursue the MA with a major in Christian Studies will complete a project in the course of their degree, this major is a great option for leaders already serving in ministry.

The MA with a major in Christian Studies is excellent preparation for goals such as:
  • Enrichment of preaching, teaching and other forms of ministry

  • Campus Ministry

  • Ministry in many parachurch organizations

  • And in some cases when a thesis track is approved, doctoral study leading to advanced research and teaching

Structure

In addition to the MA core, the MA with a major in Christian Studies) involves a great deal of flexibility with:

  • General Courses (3 hrs): Academic Resources and Research, Globalization in Theological Education

  • Choice of General Theological Courses (10 hrs)

  • Choice of Leadership Courses (8 hrs) - must include one evangelism course

  • Choice of open Electives (7 hrs)

  • Christian Studies Project* (4 hrs)

*In exceptional cases, a student may submit an application to substitute a thesis for the project.
